A delegate stunned his comrades at the ANC Youth League conference on Friday night when he nominated self-confessed gold-digger and socialite Khanyi Mbau for the post of national treasurer.

It was during nominations for the league's top six posts when a Gauteng delegate stood up to say he wanted Mbau to contest for the position held by Pule Mabe. But delegates present said the entire house roared with laughter as the man made his nomination.
"Imagine that. We would walk into her office and find Gucci wall covers. I wouldn't want to see what Luthuli House would look like - it would be chaotic, parties every day," said one delegate.
There were no seconders for the motion.
